Excerpt from story I am writing
The General raised his sword over his head and cried out as his troops charged the fields. The sky went black with arrows and the deafening thunder of hooves blocked out all noise as the two armies clashed, swords hitting shields and bones breaking as the barbaric humans from the south tried to fight back against the slavers. Smoke appeared in the distance signaling that the siege was underway and a ballista went off. The general fell from his horse grabbing at his neck just as the call for retreat had been sounded. The battle ended as quickly as it had begun.
